About Our Judo Program

Welcome to Judo, for all ages. Practiced today by more than 20 million people, Judo is without doubt the most popular combat sport in the world.  Judo is also by sheer number of practitioners the second most popular sport of any sport (soccer being #1) though in terms of national organizations throughout the world, Judo is actually the largest sport in the world. Judo has found its way into the school systems of many European and Asian countries. At the Olympic level, Judo's popularity is so great that it's usually the first sport to completely sell out.

Judo increases your child’s ability to handle adverse situations / conditions - Judo teaches your child to keep trying even when things are difficult. Judo helps guide your child’s personal development.

Judo is a lifelong activity for children, adults and the whole family - Many children and adults need to express themselves physically.  Judo offers them a safe way to do so. Judo is an activity for your entire lifetime, and has the ability to allow an entire family to train together. Many Judoka continue to practice and even compete when in their 60's and 70's.

Judo as a training tool has built within its system the ability to provide a better sense of true accomplishments because there is “No make believe” in its training. Judo is safe - According to the American College of Sports Medicine, Judo is the safest contact sport for children under 13 years old. You can learn many skills by practicing Judo techniques, which help you, shine in other sports.

Judo as a fitness program is a rigorous and demanding physical activity. The practice of judo techniques helps people develop basic and fundamental physical fitness in a number of ways, such as the development of strength, flexibility, agility, speed, dynamic and static balance, explosive power, and endurance. The practice of active attack and defense helps develop reaction time, coordination, and overall physical self-confidence. It's an excellent sport to cross-train in because it offers great development in balance, kinesthetic awareness, coordination and ruggedness.
